First let me say, the staff at this firm is AMAZING! However, I had many frustrations with this firm in the beginning of my case due to the lack of communication from my first Attorney. *Let’s talk about an amazing lawyer, Attorney Lolita Beyah. She is a 5-star lawyer. Attorney Beyah is personable, relatable and knowledgeable as a professional. She’s also very humble, realistic and straight forward. She was honest from day 1 to the end. Not only did she help me grow on a professional level, but she also helped me on a personal level as well. Although I knew that we had a business relationship, I did not feel like it was always about business when we spoke. Attorney Beyah was honest to tell me when I was wrong and professionally corrected me. My husband used this firm to represent him in an effort to obtain parental rights and custody for his daughter from a previous relationship. This matter was extremely important to us both in order to establish parenting time as soon as possible. It really felt like they were either over stretched in case loads, dragged their feet, and would overlook important details. Errors were made that set us back months. We are a faith based family who prayed long and hard for good counsel before deciding on them. Unfortunately it took us nearly a year to realize that we’d made a mistake. We eventually left this firm after acquiring over $27,000 in legal fee’s by the 60 day hearing of the custody case. We did not feel as though they stewarded the funds that we deposited into the billing trust responsibly and instead would find creative ways of billing at high rates. Things like having two attorneys log into the same uneventful virtual hearing so they could both bill, and without my husband’s consent. Or speaking to opposing counsel for nearly 2 hours for a cost of $950 just to discuss visitation details. It seems like an email would have been more appropriate. Billing for long calls of this nature were common and quickly exhausted the bulk of our funds. Huge administrative mistakes were made and we’d go weeks to months without updates. When my husband would reach out for updates he’d be billed for inquiring (email, call, etc).

They will ask you to upload pertinent evidence into their online portal but you will quickly realize that it’s seldom read by anyone aside from the administrative staff. My husband would spend countless hours preparing evidence only to receive duplicate request for evidence that he’d already uploaded in the preceding months. This was frustrating, emotionally draining, and ultimately amounted to extremely expensive insufficient representation. God is still advocating for us and we are believing that this financial set back will not prevent us from uniting with our child. God is bigger than financial exploitation and we will overcome this. With that being said, I would not recommend this firm to anyone and wish that we’d moved on from them sooner.

Custody battles are never easy. There was a wide arrange of emotions felt when trying to ensure that I was in my son's life. My case was successful in getting 50/50 physical custody, legitimization, name change, joint legal decision making.
