Takiya Wheeler – Associate Attorney

Takiya is a dedicated Associate Attorney in the Family Law Division at TDE Family Law & Divorce Attorneys, bringing nearly 13 years of legal experience and a strong commitment to client-centered advocacy. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and her Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law. Prior to joining TDE, she served as a public defender in New York City and as an Assistant Federal Defender in Atlanta, representing clients through some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

Throughout her career, Takiya has represented hundreds of clients and is admitted to practice in New York, Georgia, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Her approach to advocacy is rooted in listening, effective communication, thorough preparation, and collaboration. She is passionate about empowering clients who may feel stressed or overwhelmed and ensuring their voices are heard. Takiya is also involved with Movement Law Lab and the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers and volunteers within her communities in Atlanta and New York City.

Outside of the firm, Takiya enjoys traveling, reading, exploring new restaurants, and cheering on the New York Knicks and women’s basketball teams.
